In the mid-1980's, Freedom Security Systems began as JESS Security Systems in Los Angeles, CA. Founder James L. Eaton, at the time an alarm service tech/manager at a respected West L.A. security company, was also a struggling musician/songwriter.

Deciding to take advantage of the entertainment business contacts he had accumulated over the years, James began his own alarm business by protecting the homes of famous actors, singers, and songwriters including members of rock band Fleetwood Mac.

In 1990, James expanded to North San Diego County as he and wife, Janel, pursued a better quality of life away from the melting pot of L.A. While building up the connections and referrals needed in a new county, James was a sub-contractor for the bigger security companies in San Diego. This provided James and crew with a vast knowledge of different equipment, installation techniques, and what NOT to do in the security alarm industry. In 1998, JESS Security changed its name to Freedom Security Systems and in 2002, incorporated (Suburban Legend, Inc.)

After years of using different alarm equipment brands, James and company have been very happy with the GE-Security line of Control Panels, intrusion devices, and structured cabling equipment. So much so, that in 2003, Suburban Legend, Inc. DBA Freedom Security became a GE-Security Dealer. But don’t be misled. Freedom Security does more than install burglary, fire, and camera systems. Wiring and installation of phones, data, TV, music systems, home controls, Home Theater, and Remote Video can make your safe home even more enjoyable!
